Casting is a part of Katarzyna Kozyra?s project for a full length autobiographical feature film. The artist is currently in the process of writing the script for this film and searching for a cast. For Kozyra, the casting is an opportunity to look at herself from another perspective, from the perspective of a viewer who has been familiar with her work for many years, or of a viewer who is encountering it for the first time at the exhibition in Zachęta. For the viewer, it is a unique chance to take part in Kozyra?s project and to play a role in her film. The artist, who has been functioning as a public figure for almost 20 years and over the course of her ongoing presence in public life has been seen in very different guises, now would like to receive something from the viewer. She invites everybody to take part, because in this casting it is not a question of physical similarity, but of an understanding of the character to be played. What the artist is looking for is not that candidates repeat the works, nor that they offer their opinions about them. Rather the aim is that the candidate in the casting, on the basis of the works presented and other supplementary materials, such as the book accompanying the exhibition, or a previously forged opinion regarding Katarzyna Kozyra tries to incarnate her, to play the role of the artist in the way that seems to the candidate the most fitting. The candidate should thus have a clearly formed opinion regarding Kozyra and an idea about how to play her. For the viewer, the casting is a chance to ask themselves the question: ?Who is Katarzyna Kozyra?? The Casting in Zachęta was not a typical casting. Here the participant should demonstrate invention and themselves think up the text or the way to play the role (beware however that the aim is to not to make a performance).
